GRAZIE ALLA RICERCA DELL'ASSOCIAZIONE FLANGINI, E' STATA RICOSTRUITA UNA STRAORDINARIA RACCOLTA DI OPERE PITTORICHE DI GIUSEPPE FLANGINI PROVENIENTI DA COLLEZIONI SIA PRIVATE CHE PUBBLICHE ITALIANE ED EUROPEE. QUESTI LAVORI REALIZZATI SUL SET DEL FILM "BRAMA DI VIVERE" (LUST FOR LIFE) DI VINCENTE MINNELLI, SONO ESPOSTI PER LA PRIMA VOLTA NEGLI STATI UNITI.
INAUGURAZIONE GIOVEDI' 15 MARZO 2012 PRESSO L'AUDITORIUM DELL'AMBASCIATA D'ITALIA A WASHINGTON DC CON IL CONCERTO PER PIANOFORTE DEL MAESTRO STEFANO GUERESI.
CONTEMPORANEAMENTE E' STATA ALLESTITA UN MOSTRA DI OPERE IN CERAMICA DEL MAESTRO CLAUDIO CIPRIANI, ISPIRATE ALL'OPERA E AL PENSIERO DI FLANGINI.

DAL FILM "BRAMA DI VIVERE" DI VINCENTE MINNELLI.
La mostra d'arte IL CINEMA DIPINTO presenta una selezione di opere realizzate da Giuseppe Flangini tra il 1955 e il 1956, sul set del film del regista italo americano Vincente Minnelli, Brama di vivere (Lust for life) ispirato alla vita di Vincent Van Gogh.
Dalla sensibilità e dalla maestria del celebre artista veronese, che fu scelto come pittore ufficiale durante le riprese della pellicola, ebbe vita una mirabile storyboard che oggi, grazie alla presente esposizione, possiamo ammirare in tutto il suo valore artistico.
L’affascinante trasposizione pittorica della premiata opera cinematografica (Oscar e Palma d’oro a Cannes) che comprende oltre cinquanta lavori, tra dipinti a olio e a tempera, disegni a matita, biro e pastelli a cera, ci restituisce intatta una documentazione memorabile dell’intero cast, immortalando sulla tela con il protagonista, il celebre attore Kirk Douglas nel ruolo di van Gogh, anche i paesaggi naturali delle realistiche e toccanti scene all’aperto.
La mirabile collezione, che porta a esporre per la prima volta negli Stati Uniti il Maestro Giuseppe Flangini, accompagnato dal celebre Regista italo americano, Vincente Minnelli, e che mette insieme in un unico progetto espositivo la cinematografia e la pittura, rilevando la sintonia che intercorre tra le due diverse forme d’arte, intende offrire al pubblico anche un messaggio capace di affermare, mediante il valore dell’arte, i principii di amicizia che da sempre uniscono l’Italia e gli Stati Uniti.

FLANGINI & MINNELLI THE PAINTED CINEMA
Homage to Giuseppe Flangini and Vincente Minnelli and at the value of art
The event THE PAINTED CINEMA presents a selection of works realized by Giuseppe Flangini between 1955 and 1956, on the set of the movie Lust for life, directed by Vincente Minnelli and inspired by the life of Van Gogh.
During the production of the award-winning movie, Flangini created a wonderful storyboard that today we can admire, thanks to the present exhibition.
The charming pictorial transposition of the movie includes over 5o works and gives back us intact a documentation of that time, with paintings and drawings that well express the entire cast with its sceneries and its protagonists, first of all Kirk Douglas in the role of Van Gogh.
This exhibition, offers today the precious opportunity for Flangini to expose, for the very first time, his works in the United States at the prestigious seat of the Embassy of Italy in Washington DC and at the same time offers to the public a message that is capable to affirm through the value of art, the friendship that all along joins Italy and the United States.
